Hoag Employees Pursue Lifelong Career Goals Thanks to Hoag Classic and Kingston Technology Scholarships

Recipients were honored at the Hoag Classic and Kingston Technology Scholarship Fund Award Breakfast, where they shared messages of gratitude for donors.

Each year, the Hoag Classic is honored to partner with Kingston Technology to empower Hoag employees to grow their careers through scholarships for advanced training and education. Funds help offset tuition, the cost of materials, and other expenses incurred while earning a degree, license, or career-related certificate. Since 2020, this partnership has funded 52 scholarships and counting.

On March 24, the Hoag Classic and Kingston Technology Scholarship Fund Award Breakfast brought together donors, Hoag leadership, scholarship recipients, friends, and family to celebrate 2023 scholars and the impact of the program on the lives and careers of Hoag employees.

Scheduling specialist Rosa Fields, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, spoke at the breakfast to share her gratitude for the donors supporting her. “The Kingston Technology Scholarship is enabling me to pursue this goal, and after raising five children, I can now focus on realizing my dream. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to apply my degree as Hoag expands. I am extremely grateful for your support,” she said.

Lindsey Borrego, an aspiring health care advocate for underrepresented communities, said, “I am sincerely grateful and honored to be named a Kingston Technology Scholar. This scholarship will significantly ease my financial burden as I pursue a Master of Healthcare Administration at UCLA, ultimately allowing me to improve the health of patients and communities.”

Rosa and Lindsey are two of 10 scholars honored at this year’s breakfast. Other scholarship recipients include an emergency care technician pursuing an associate degree in nursing, a customer service representative working toward a certificate in medical coding, a telemetry technician earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and a cook getting a certificate in culinary arts and baking, among others. Some scholars are first-generation college graduates. Others are sole providers balancing work and school while setting an example for their children. All are elevating Hoag’s high-quality care to even greater heights.
